Juz 12: Can a Muslim be an economist?
Surah: Surah Yousuf 47
Joseph replied, “You will plant ˹grain˺ for seven consecutive years, leaving in the ear whatever you will harvest, except for the little you will eat.
This suggestion was given by Yousuf AS to the government of Egypt. He told them while interpreting the dream of the king.
He suggested them that before the tough years of drought you have to save the crops that are grown now and keep them inside their ear. So that they don't get spoiled.
This interpretation and this valuable suggestion actually saved the economy of Egypt. From this we can extract a great lesson that a Muslims has to learn multiple set of skills. A Muslim, with the knowledge of Qur'an and Sunnah has to be aware of the worldly affairs as well and has to gain expertise in them so that Muslims don't stay behind and don't have to look for others for their progress and have to be wise enough to take their own economic decisions.
