Difference between Rehman and Raheem

Although both words originate from the same root i.e ر ح م, there still are differences.

Allah's mercy (Rehmah) is of two types: General and Special

General
Rehmah is for everyone in this world whether a Believer or a non-Believer

Special Rehmah is only for Believers in Akhirah.

Rehman:

This word has qualities of being extreme, temporary and vast like a sea having high tides. The mouth fills up while saying this word.

The Rehman is for this Duniya as this world is temporary. It is the general Rehmah of Allah even for the ones who completely deny the existence of Him.

Raheem:

This word has the quality of continuity and permanence like a calm sea.

The Raheem is for the Akhirah. This is the special kind of Rehma that is only for Believers. Since Akhirah is continuous and permanent, the word Raheem is used for it as it also indicates continuity and permanence.

Isn't it AMAZING?
